News from your Adel Public Library

A library fund-raiser garage sale is planned for Friday, May 30 at the Adel Public Library.  Hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Wanted are new or good used items; no clothing or shoes, please.  Items may be brought to the library at any time during library hours.  Proceeds for this project will be used to purchase another book bin for the children's area.

The library accepts empty inkjet cartridges for recycling.  Accepted are Compaq, Canon, Lexmark, and Hewlett Packard.  No Epson cartridges, please. The empty cartridges are sent in and the library receives money in return.  The donation box is near the copy machine.

The automatic door openers are working again, but will be turned off between 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday due to the abuse of the system by school children.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

The Friends of the Library will meet on Monday, May 5 at 7 p.m. for their annual. Officers will be elected and plans will be made for the Ice Cream Social in June. Annual memberships will be due at this meeting.

The Brown Bag Book Club will meet on Tuesday, May 27 at noon to discuss Jeannette Walls' book, "Glass Castle."  The group will meet on Tuesday since the library will be closed on the regularly scheduled date, Monday, May 26.  Bring a sack lunch.
The Evening Book Club will meet on Thursday, May 29 at 7 p.m. to discuss "Self Storage" by Gayle Brandeis.  New book club members are invited to join both groups.  Copies of the two books will be available at the front desk.

May 5 and 6 will be the last Pre-School Story Hour and Toddler Time until the Summer Reading Program begins in June. 
Library Babies Lapsit will meet on Thursday, May 1 and 15.  All sessions begin at 10:30 a.m.
Scrapbooking will be held on Friday, May 2 beginning at 6 p.m.  Bring a treat to share.

The library will be closed on Monday, May 26 for Memorial Day.
